Today, there is a large growing market for vintage Ludwig drum sets fueled by collectors and current musicians alike. Ludwig has been manufacturing quality drum sets for 100 years and many vintage sets still look and sound great. One of the most popular vintage Ludwig drum sets was made in the 1960s and featured a Black Oyster Pearl finish. This was the kit that Ringo Starr used. Some other rare finishes that are highly sought after are the Mod Orange Pearl and Psychedelic Red Pearl. These were first introduced in 1967 and continued to be made into the early 70s.
