Tama Imperialstar drum sets are one of the intermediate level series of kids manufactured by Tama. Imperialstar sets use a poplar shell design and heavy duty hardware. The Imperialstar and other Tama intermediate level series of drums called Superstar were the premiere drum sets the produced by Tama in the 70s and 80s. Tama then started to make a professional quality line of drum sets keeping the Superstar and Imperialstar as the semi-professional options. Some of the original Tama Imperialstar drum sets have become quite popular as collectors items. Tama Imperialstar drum sets today are manufactured in Tama facilities in Taiwan.
