Yamaha Drums is one part of the larger Yamaha Corporation that manufactures musical instruments, motorcycles and power sports equipment, and electronics. Since 1967, Yamaha has been hand making drum sets in Japan. Yamaha has become one of the leading drum set manufacturers in the world. Over the years they have created many advances in drum hardware, including the first tom mount with 360 degrees of rotation and the Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System for mounting drums in the optimal position for best tone characteristics.
All of Yamaha’s drum sets are manufactured in two locations in Asia. They have one factory in Osaka Japan that assembles the professional quality Yamaha drum sets, and another in Indonesia that manufactures the entry level Yamaha drums and all the hardware. The manufacturing process is nearly identical at each plant, while the Osaka plant uses more exotic woods and finishes to complement their expert series drum sets. Yamaha is also one of the leading manufactures of electronic drum sets.
